Nominations Are Now Closed — And We’re Blown Away
Nominations are now closed for the Big Stories Film Nominations 2025, and we just want to say a big thank you to everyone who put someone forward — or nominated themselves.
We received 133 nominations, and they were nothing short of incredible.
We heard from people all over the country. Migrant families. Grandparents. Parents. Carers. People doing it tough. People who’ve achieved a lot. People who’ve quietly held their families or communities together for decades. It’s fair to say: we’ve got our work cut out choosing a winner.
Here are just a few snippets from the nominations:
“We migrated, carrying hope in our hearts and nothing in our hands.”
“Mum had her clothes made from parachutes and ran a business while nursing both my dad and me back to health.”
“From crocodiles in his garage to running a thriving wildlife park, his story is wild in every way.”
“I want to leave my story behind because I have no children, and no one else to remember it.”
“My mum is turning 100, and still makes us laugh — her story began in war and defied all expectations.”
We’ll spend May reviewing all entries properly — taking the time to read every story and consider it carefully. We’ll be in touch with finalists, and the winner will be announced in June.
In the meantime, we’ll be sharing a few updates on social media and might reach out to some of you directly — especially if we’ve got questions or just want to say hello.

And if your situation is urgent — especially if there are health concerns — please get in touch. We’ll do our best to look after you with a special offer.
Thanks again to everyone who nominated. We’ve been blown away by the stories shared — and we’re reminded more than ever how important it is to record them.
